Meet Erik Paulsen’s Beer Buddies

In the flurry of tweets promoting the Paulsen Tax Cut, Third District Congressman Erik Paulsen writes

“The U.S. economy is hurtling along at midsummer and shows little sign of slowing down…putting more money in Americans’ pockets and pumping more cash into the economy”.

Sounds good … yet it somehow ignores the cost of everyday items are also increasing.
Nationally, consumer prices rose 2.9 percent in the 12 months that ended in June, the largest increase in more than six years. Among the biggest gainers over the 12-month period were and gasoline, up 26.8 percent; food away from home, up 3.6 percent; and alcoholic beverages, up 3.9 percent.
[SIDENOTE : In the first quarter of 2018, U.S. household debt reached an all-time high of $13.2 trillion.]

OK … we can cut out going out to eat … but putting gas in the car is a necessity … and what to do about beer ?

Well, don’t worry about beer, ’cause “Representative” Erik Paulsen was successful in getting the House to pass a tax cut for the beer, wine and spirits industry (which has no offset, so the national debt will rise in the millions.)

Now, many Third District families may be worried about debt and upset about paying higher prices for necessities, one group that is not worried is the Friends of Erik Paulsen which filed a pre-primary campaign finance report for the period between July 1 and July 28 … reporting a cash on-hand balance of $2,692,684.21 … thanks in part to his “friends” who promote the consumption of alcohol.

Hmmm … in just a few weeks, “Representative” Erik Paulsen has garnered a more than enough dollars to buy a round at any local pub … and all from out of state donors … who just happen to benefit from his legislation H.R. 747, the Craft Beverage Modernization and Tax Reform Act of 2017 (CBMTRA).
The legislation was previously reviewed on the MN Political Roundtable noting that this tax cut adds to the national debt — $320,767,790.

Yep, the so-called #MathGuy has figured out that he can use legislation to advance his re-election.

Funny thing is that this was noted by “Representative” Paulsen’s opponent

Dean Phillips has a simple message :
Congress needs a new generation of leaders willing to place principles over party, and common interests over special interests.

Erik Paulsen and his special interest tax cuts have benefited the Friends of Erik Paulsen, leaving us with more debt and paying higher prices.
