I didn't know there was a group "Women Against Cravaack". He has been such a tremendously poor Congressman, such a deliberately misleading man who has such a pattern of promoting factually inaccurate information that it cannot be accidental, but has to be intentionally lying to his constituents, that with this vote, I want to sign up and become an active member.

Please send me anything you have on this group, privately. I'm going to go looking for them on my own as well.

The Tea Party do not serve the people, they serve corporations, just like the ALEC members. They are extremists who wish to see people oppressed and helpless to fight back against rich white males, or any one who fits one of those categories.

FYI : “Women Against Cravaack” Committee released the following statement today following Rep. Chip Cravaack’s vote for a fake Violence Against Women Act that actually rolls back protections for victims of domestic abuse:

"Congressman Cravaack has taken a law that, for over a decade, has helped protect vulnerable women and children, and turned it into a weapon in his war on women by removing domestic abuse and sexual assault protections for millions of women across the country,” said Candice Harshner, a member of Women Against Cravaack. “Calling this a vote for women is beyond insulting -- it's morally wrong."

Rep. Cravaack and his fellow extremist Tea Party Republicans in the House set up a sham vote to try and pretend that they care about women, even though the House Republican version of the bill actually guts protections for victims of domestic abuse. Just over a month ago, Rep. Cravaack and House Republicans blocked the real Violence Against Women Act.

Rep. Cravaack is a leader in the Republican War on Women. In addition to voting to block the real Violence Against Women Act, which has proven to significantly reduce domestic violence amongst women, Cravaack voted to defund Planned Parenthood and voted to redefine rape.
=

The only Member of the Minnesota delegation to participate during the House debate, said :

Ms. McCOLLUM. I oppose this bill. For the first time, the Violence Against Women Act is now a divisive piece of legislation. We could be voting on a bipartisan bill already passed by the Senate, but instead, the Tea Party majority of the Republicans has chosen to bring a bipartisan discriminatory bill to the floor today, and it eliminates protections for victims of violent crime.

All women who experience violence have the right to be protected. They need to know that their attackers will be tried in a court of law. And the purpose of VAWA has always been to ensure that all victims of violence are protected and that all their basic human rights are upheld no matter what one's sexual orientation, ethnicity, or legal status in this country is.

This country failed to protect all women, and that's why this legislation failed to get the support from the advocates and from women all across this country.

I oppose this measure, and I encourage my colleagues to vote ``no.''

=

Sadly, Erik Paulsen (R-MN-03) is the Father of four young women and voted against the Fair Pay Act and this weak VAWA and John Kline, a Father and Grandfather, failed to heed Congresswoman McCollum's plea and quietly voted "YES, Let's weaken the law".

Before reading this comment, please look at your computer clock and make note of the time.

If there is a Republican War On Women, then the leaders would be ...

Michele Bachmann (R-MN)
Marsha Blackburn (R-TN)
Shelley Moore Capito (R-WV)
Jo Ann Emerson (R-MO)
Virginia Foxx (R-NC)
Lynn Jenkins (R-KS)
Cynthia Lummis (R-WY)
Mary Bono Mack (R-CA)
Candice Miller (R-MI)
Sue Myrick (R-NC)
Cathy McMorris Rodgers (R-WA)
Jean Schmidt (R-OH)
Yep, these women legislators voted Against the Lilly Ledbetter Fair Pay Act of 2009 but For the very weak Violence Against Women Act

Weighing in this time (they were not in Congress in 2009) but voting for the Violence Against Women Act are :
Sandy Adams (R-FL)
Diane Black (R-TN)
Ann Marie Buerkle (R-NY)
Vicky Hartzell (R-MO)
Nan Hayworth (R-NY)
Kristi Noem (R-SD)
Martha Roby (R-AL)

With somewhat a wavering stance are those that voted against Fair Pay and against the weak Violence Against Women Act :
Judy Biggert (R-IL) (who introduced her own version but it never got a hearing)
Ileana Ros-Lehtinen (R-FL)

And why is it that Sandy Adams is the prime sponsor of the legislation ... well, because she was the only Republican woman House Judiciary Committee --- yep, an old boy's club.
This sham piece of legislation was offered on April 27, 2012 ... even though Gwen Moore (D-WI) had been pleading on the House floor for months of the need to enact her legislation (H.R. 4271 which had 91 co-sponsors but got no hearings). Something had to be done as the authorized funding for VAWA ended as of September 30, 2011 and has been carried forward with appropriations gamesmanship.
FYI, the John Kline's Education and Workforce Committee was supposed to evaluate the legislation but never did. Ah, the power of being a Chairman.

BTW, since you mentioned the Indian tribes ... did you notice that they changed the part about payment for a rape exam whereby the victim cannot just submit a bill from their own medical practioner... I wonder if this is a way to assure that the Right To Life message will be provided to the victim ?

BTW, did you know who the original author of VAWA legislation was ... current Vice-President Biden ... thus with this modified version, can you support a Mitt Romney-Sandy Adams ticket ?

Lastly, look again at your computer clock
Did You Know, that 24 people become victims of rape, physical violence, or stalking by an intimate partner in the United States every minute ?
Count the minutes and think about it ?
